How to Make and Play the Christmas Saran Wrap Ball Game

The holidays are a great time to get together with friends and family. There is always laughing, lots of food, and of course fun games to play!

This Christmas party game was a lot of fun. We played it with a small group of teenagers, but this game could easily be adapted for players of all ages and group sizes.

This Saran wrap game would also be great for birthday parties!

• Plastic Wrap
• Scissors
• Little Goodies - mine came from the Dollar Tree
• Pair of Dice

I used Glad Cling Wrap, but you can use any brand of plastic wrap to create your ball of prizes.

Where to Buy Christmas Goodies:

All of the small prizes and treats purchased for this game came from my local dollar store.

They have a great selection of items and make it so the game isn't too expensive. Plus several items purchased had more than 1 item in the package so that was split into a couple of prizes.

As you are browsing the aisles simply think of who will be playing the game and what are some gift ideas they may want.

The items also need to be on the smaller side. The largest item we purchased was a bag of cotton candy so that became the main prize.

Prize Ideas:

• gum
• mints
• chapstick
• candy bar
• small card games
• fuzzy socks
• small toys
• chocolates
• hair ties
• stickers
• bouncy balls
• dollar bills and coins

How to Make the Plastic Wrap Game:

Begin by pulling out a section of plastic wrap.

Stretch the end around the main prize. This can be the most expensive, or just the largest, and secure the ends of the plastic wrap around the gift.

Wrap the layers of saran wrap tightly around the gift several more times, and then with a pair of scissors, cut the plastic wrap off the roll.

Press all of the edges of the plastic wrap into the prize ball. You want the end to be hard to find.

Begin wrapping with a new length of plastic wrap, and then take another prize, continue wrapping, and repeat.

Continue wrapping and adding prizes until you have a large ball of prizes!

I also added several strips of plastic wrap that didn't have any prizes but were wrapped around the ball several times.

It is completely up to you how big your prize ball will be, and how many layers of plastic wrap.

I ended up using about 450 feet of plastic wrap and spent about $30 on prizes and candy.

Saran Wrap Ball Game Rules:

All players get in a circle.

The oldest player starts with the prize ball, and the player to the left of that person starts with the dice.

Someone shouts go, and the player holding the prize ball begins to unwrap it. Ripping the plastic wrap is not allowed. The player must find the end of the wrap and begin unwrapping it.

Anything that falls out while that player is unwrapping is theirs to keep.

While the player is unwrapping, the person to the left rolls repeatedly until doubles are rolled.

Once doubles are rolled, everything is passed to the left. The person who had the dice now gets to unwrap the prize ball and the next player to the left gets the dice and is trying to roll doubles.

This repeats until the prize ball is completely unwrapped and the last prize has been won.

This is such a fun game! Since everything is wrapped in plastic wrap you can see several layers and it was so funny to see what everyone would get so excited about and hope for.

They all got really intense at the end, and everyone was laughing so hard.
